Hiring a landscaper around here

What local should mean: someone who lives here and can haul the debris.

Local should mean someone who lives here

A lot of companies call themselves local and then send a crew from two counties over. If you want someone who knows the streets and can come out this week, that's a different thing.

Velo is based in Rochester. We grew up here, and we still work these streets ourselves.

What the big crews miss

Big landscape companies win on ads. They lose on the stuff you see from the street: a missed edge, clippings in the gutter, mulch dumped in a pile by the garage.

We do the jobs where one person is accountable — mulch, planting, cleanups — and the debris actually leaves.

The towns next door still count

Auburn Hills, Troy, Lake Orion, Rochester Hills, Shelby, West Bloomfield, Bloomfield Hills, Warren, Clinton Township, Clarkston, Oxford, Pontiac, Waterford, Birmingham, Romeo, Macomb Township — those are normal runs from Rochester, not a stretch. If you're in one of those, you're in range.
