The job
Most houses around here have yew, boxwood, or arborvitae along the foundation. They look better when they're cut to a line, not chewed into balls.
We taper hedges so the bottom still gets light, keep the face along the house flat, and leave hydrangeas and viburnums alone if they shouldn't be sheared.
Clippings get hauled. They don't sit in the bed and mat.
Spring and mid-summer are the usual times. If something is into the window, we'll say whether a hard cut will work or if it's time to replace it.
What's included
- Formal shears and natural thinning
- Foundation plants, hedges, and privacy screens
- Clippings hauled off-site
- Honest call on plants that are past saving
We write down what's included before we start. If the job gets bigger, we ask first. The debris leaves with us.
